Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

In short

  • No ads, no tracking cookies, no tracking across websites.
  • Anonymous, cookieless page-view statistics via Vercel Web Analytics.
  • The wake lock and the screen light run entirely in your browser.
  • If you contact us, we use your details only to answer you.

Controller

The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Torben Tietze, c/o MDC#1105, Welserstraße 3, 87463 Dietmannsried, Germany. Email: hello@keep-awake.com. See also the imprint.

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, your browser automatically sends technical data to Vercel's servers, such as your IP address, the date and time, the requested URL, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website and keep it secure.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website). For more information, see Vercel's privacy policy.

Vercel Web Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device. Visitors are not identified across days or across websites; the request data is used to create a short-lived anonymous hash that Vercel discards after 24 hours. We only see aggregated figures such as page views, referring sites, country, browser, operating system and device type.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in anonymous usage statistics to improve the website).

Contact form and email

If you use the contact form or email us, we process your email address, your message and, if you provide it, your name, in order to answer you. Messages from the contact form are delivered to our inbox by the email service Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA), which processes them on our behalf under a data processing agreement.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your message relates to a contract or pre-contractual request, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). We delete your message once it has been dealt with, unless we are legally required to keep it.

Transfers to the USA

Vercel and Resend are based in the USA. Both are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). For Resend, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply in addition.

Data stored in your browser

If you use the light/dark mode toggle, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Keeping the screen awake uses your browser's built-in Screen Wake Lock API. The screen light only changes what your screen displays. Neither feature sends any data to us.

Ko-fi

The page links to our Ko-fi page. No data is sent to Ko-fi unless you click that link. If you do, Ko-fi's own privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, email hello@keep-awake.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

Changes

We update this policy when the website changes. The current version is always available on this page.
