How to keep your iPhone screen on
😴 Change Auto-Lock, or use the tool below ⏰
Your iPhone locks the screen after a short time to save battery. To keep it on you can raise (or remove) the Auto-Lock timer, or use the no-install tool below while you're in Safari.
Change the Auto-Lock timer
This keeps the screen on across every app, not just the browser.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display & Brightness.
- Tap Auto-Lock.
- Choose a longer time, or Never to keep the screen on until you lock it yourself.
Never is greyed out while Low Power Mode is on — turn it off first under Settings › Battery. Remember to set Auto-Lock back afterwards, since a screen that never sleeps drains the battery fast.
Use this free browser tool
Only need the screen on inside Safari — reading a page, showing a QR code, or using the screen as a light? The button below keeps it on without touching Auto-Lock.
Only works while this tab stays open and visible — not minimized, and not switched away to another tab.
Works in Safari on iOS 16.4 and later. It keeps the screen on only while this Safari tab is the one on screen — switch to another app and the screen can lock again. For keeping other apps on, use the Auto-Lock setting above.
Which one should you use?
Change Auto-Lock when you need the screen on in any app — navigation, or cooking with a recipe app. Use the tool for a quick option on a webpage that resets itself, so you never forget to change it back.
FAQ
Why is the Never option greyed out?
Low Power Mode forces a short Auto-Lock. Turn it off under Settings > Battery and the Never option becomes available again.
Does keeping the screen on drain the battery?
Yes — the display is the single biggest battery user. Set Auto-Lock back to 30 seconds or 1 minute once you're done.
